TREX Day 2: Multiple Sites

Day 2 saw crews conducting prescribed fire operations at multiple locations; Cranberry Flats managed by Meewasin Valley Authority, the Brightwater Centre managed by the Saskatoon Public School Division, and St. Denis managed by the Canadian Wildlife Service. Throughout the day, crews carefully monitored weather conditions and waited for ideal burn windows before proceeding with ignition activities.

Once conditions met prescription requirements, burn operations were carried out safely and effectively, continuing from daytime hours into the evening. The extended operations provided participants with valuable experience working across different landscapes and fuel types while applying the skills and knowledge gained during training.

The successful burns highlighted the importance of patience, planning, and adaptability in prescribed fire operations, as crews worked together to take advantage of favourable conditions and meet land management objectives.
