Introduction to Prescribed Fire


Ready to Take Your Prescribed Fire Skills to the Next Level?

Join us from September 15 - 17, 2026 aLakeland College’s Vermilion Campus for an immersive, hands-on prescribed fire training experience designed to build your confidence, knowledge, and practical skills in the field.   

In this In-person training, you will: Learn from experienced practitioners 

  • Connect with fellow fire professionals and enthusiasts 

  • Gain real-world prescribed fire experience and operate as a crew member during a prescribed burn 

  • Gain experience in applying safe practices in controlled fire environments 

  • Learn to use fireline equipment effectively and responsibly 

What You'll Need:

  • Nomex or other fire-resistant clothing 

  • All-leather gloves 

  • Eye protection 

  • Hard hat with ear protection 

Participants are encouraged to bring their own PPE, but limited gear is available for those who need it.   

Prerequisites:

-Completion of ICS-100 ($25) is required

-CPPFE’s Introduction to Prescribed Fire ($150) is encouraged but not required   

Inveatment: $300 (includes course materials and lunches)
