Dan Rapinda
Dan has been a professional engineer for over 30 years and a business owner and entrepreneur for 25 years.
Dan and his wife Beverly purchased an 80 acre parcel of land in the RM of Stuartburn in the Spring of 2022. Their property consists of a mosaic of aspen/oak forest, pasture and native tall grass prairie. They constructed a family homestead in 2023, and have established and started implementing land management measures (including plans for prescribed fire) . Their goals are expanding the native tall grass prairie species, controlling aspen forest encroachment, and reducing wildfire fuel loads on their property.
Dan joined the founding SPBA members in June 2024, applying many years of business, project planning and execution experience to help advance the goals of the Stuartburn Prescribed Burn Association and establish the first Prescribed Burn Association in Manitoba.
Through this process, he has been dedicated to gaining knowledge and experience in prescribed fire. He has completed the Introduction to Prescribed Fire in the Grassland Environment course, NCWG Wildland Fire Fighting courses S130, S190 and L180, is a qualified FireSmart Ambassador, attended the 2025 Manitoba Tall Grass Prairie and Aspen Parkland Prescribed Fire TREX, and assisted the Nature Conservancy of Canada with prescribed burns in the RM of Stuartburn during Fall 2025.
Dan is passionate about being a steward of the tall grass prairie, promoting sustainable agriculture and ecotourism development in the RM of Stuartburn, and teaching younger generations about sustainable living skills.
